Mateo placed the little horse on the ground, just out of reach.

A thick silence filled the room.
One minute passed. Then two.
Sofía’s hands tightened on the armrests.
His right foot slid slightly towards the ground.
Eduardo held his breath.
The little girl closed her eyes, took a deep breath… then placed both feet on the ground.
Her body trembled, but she did not fall.
