“Dad!”

She sprinted over and snatched the material.

“It feels incredibly soft!”

“Put it on.”

A couple of minutes after that, she came twirling right out of her sleeping space.

“I look exactly like a princess!” Sophie cheered as she spun around.

My little girl wrapped her arms around me super tight. “Thank you, Dad!”

I gulped hard and squeezed her back just as tightly.

“The material I used to craft the outfit actually came straight from your mom’s soft silk fabrics.”

Sophie’s face brightened completely.

“So Mom helped put it together?”

“Basically something like that.”

She hugged me once more.

“I completely love it!”

That single moment alone made every exhausting night totally worth the effort.

The big ceremony day showed up warm and sunny.

The school sports hall hummed with loud talking as families packed into the wooden benches. Children sprinted all over wearing tiny suits and bright outfits.

Sophie gripped my hand tightly while we strolled indoors.

“Are you feeling nervous?” I checked.

“Just a tiny bit,” she confessed.

“You are going to do amazing.”
